NOTICE - 1/3/2023 - Errors in eSignal after using QCharts Migration Backup File

ICE Data Services -

Recently with the announcement of eSignal sunsetting QCharts, our Team provided users with an article on migrating from QCharts to eSignal 21.x. Within this file were two Backup Files that were provided with the intention of preconfiguring eSignal for the user so that its look and feel closely replicated that of QCharts, in an effort to ease the transition.

If you are experiencing issues with the Backup Files you can refer to this notice to assist in resolving the errors you are receiving. To resolve the errors, just follow the below steps:

First, you need to open Application Properties:

  1. Within the eSignal Application, open the Main Menu in the upper left-hand corner of eSignal.
  2. In the drop-down menu that appears, click the "Application Properties" option towards the bottom.
  3. You should now see the Application Properties menu appear.

Once the Application Properties menu appears, you will need to configure the following settings:

  1. In the section list on the left side of the Application Properties menu, click on "Pages and Files".
  2. Ensure the "File Locations" field is set to the your local Documents folder, or if you have OneDrive enabled, that it is configured to the Documents folder in your OneDrive. If it is not set correctly, click "Browse" and navigate to the correct location. The correct paths are as follows, where %USER% is your Username/Account on your computer:
    Local Storage
    C:\Users\%USER%\Documents\ICE eSignal

    OneDrive
    C:\Users\%USERS%\OneDrive\Documents\ICE eSignal
  3. Once the Pages and Files is section is configured correctly, select the "Synchronization" section from the section menu on the left side of the Application Properties window.
  4. In the Synchronization menu, ensure the "Select All" option is unchecked.
  5. Once the Synchronization menu is configured correctly, select the "Local Data Storage" section from the section menu on the left side of the Application Properties window.
  6. In the "Local Data Storage" section, check the box next to "Store data in a folder" if it is not already checked.
  7. In the File Path field provided below that checkbox, ensure it is set to a location in your Documents > ICE eSignal folder on either your local computer, or in OneDrive. If it is not already set to that, click "Browse" and navigate to one of the two following locations, and click "Select Folder":
    Local Storage
    C:\Users\%USER%\Documents\ICE eSignal\eSignal

    OneDrive
    C:\Users\%USERS%\OneDrive\Documents\ICE eSignal\eSignal
  8. Once the correct location has been set, uncheck the option for "Store data in a folder".
  9. Click "OK" in the bottom left-hand corner of the Application Properties window.
  10. eSignal may need to restart after this, and if it does, click "Restart" and let eSignal Close and Reopen.

After the above steps have been completed, you will then need to restore from one of two sets of Backup Files provided below, depending on if you have already configured a Page in eSignal, or if you have not done so yet.

If you have configured a Page already in eSignal, and do not want to lose your configurations, then download one of the following backup files, depending on if you are a POWS student or not, and run the restore function in the Main Menu > Restore... > Select the Backup File:
