eSignal - Heatmap

ICE Data Services -

The Heatmap window displays the constituents of an Index, ETF, Mutual Fund or user defined symbol list grouped by Industry and Sector and shows the performance of each based on a user selectable time frame (e.g. 1 hour, 1 day, 1 week, etc.). The symbol box size is defined by Market Capitalization in the case of an index or user defined symbol list, by Assets Under Management in the case of an ETF or by Weight in the case of a Mutual Fund.

To open a Heatmap, select New from the main menu the click Heatmap

Green indicates that the stock price has increased and often used to signal bullish movement or positive sentiment while Red indicates that the stock price has decreased used to show bearish movement or negative sentiment.

Clicking on the Industry and Sector headers allows the user to zoom in or out of the Heatmap to display a more or less detailed view

As mentioned, the Heatmap can also be based on user defined symbol lists which are not exclusively from Watch Lists but also from other windows such as for example a Hot List thereby greatly enhancing the analysis capabilities of eSignal. In the following image one can see a Very Short Term Up list of NYSE stocks and that list is then used in 2 separate Heatmaps to view the 1 Month and 1 Day performance of those same symbols.
