Catch 22 Report - Comparison of Trading Methods and Management

Advanced GET - Daylight Saving Time

In 2007, the United States Congress changed the start date of Daylight Saving Time (DST) from the second Sunday in March and the end date to the first Sunday in November.  Previously, the start and end dates were the first Sunday in April and the last Sunday in October. Since these dates are hard-coded into the Advanced GET program, this change has created an issue for intraday charts in most versions of the program. This results in the first bar and/or the last bar of the trading session being missing during periods of the second Sunday in March and the first Sunday April and then again from the last Sunday in October until the first Sunday in November.

Advanced GET Real-Time
Version 12x: Not an issue-it compensates for the changes.

Version 10x: Not an issue-it compensates for the changes.

Version 9.0: You may upgrade to Version 12 by clicking on this link: www.esignal.com/download. Click the Download button and click Run or Open, then install the program.

If upgrading 9.0 to 12x is not an option, then verify you are using version 9.0.0.29 by clicking Help then About. If you are on a previous version, then click on this link: www.advancedget.com/download and click the Download button for Real-Time Advanced GET 9.0 -- Dashboard Edition.

To configure version 9.0.0.29 for the DST changes, click Tools on the main menu. Select Daylight Savings. The following dialog box will be displayed:

The setting for the Open Times and Closing Times during original DST dates(the first Sunday in April to the last Sunday in October) is Add one hour and during the original Standard Time dates (the last Sunday in October until first Sunday in April), the setting is No Change.

Advanced GET End of Day
Version 9.1: If you are using a 3rd party data vendor, your charts will not be affected. If you are using the eSignal Wizard as your data source, then your charts will be affected. A file called BarAdjustment.xml, needs to be present in the C:\eSignalWizard folder. If it is not there, then update the data and the file will be downloaded into the folder during the download.

Version 7.8: There is no DST fix except to upgrade to version 9.1. However, the issue will resolve itself on the first Sunday in April and then again on the first Sunday in November.
