This article provides an overview of the basics of the QCharts Time and Sales Window.
Opening a Time and Sales Window
There are three ways a user can open a Time and Sales Window. The first way is shown below by selecting File from the main menu and clicking New=>Time and Sales.
The second way to open a Time and sales window is by right clicking a symbol on a Quote Sheet and selecting New->Time and Sales.
The last way is by using the shortcut button
at the top of QCharts. What is Time and Sales?
A Time and Sales Window displays real-time streaming updates for trades and quotes in a scrolling window. As new data is sent from the exchanges, the Time and Sales Window will update with the new information at the top, and the older data will move down the window.
Once the window opens, type the desired symbol in the Symbol Box and press Enter to get data. You will get the Date, Time, Price, Trade Size, Exchange, BATE. (BATE stands for Bid, Ask or Trade)
Stocks Size Volume Display
The size for trades are displayed in the actual size of that trade. The Bid or Ask Sizes are displayed in lots of 100 shares each. For example, the image below shows a best ask of 379. Which would represent 37,900 shares.
Futures Size Volume Display
The size displays the actual size of the contracts traded.
Time and Sales Right-click Menu
Upon right-clicking the Time and Sales Window, you will see the following menu.
Filter
Filter by Type: This allows you to filter the Time and Sales Window to only display Trades, Bids or Asks prices.
Filter by Volume: This allows you to filter the Time and sales Window by Volume.
Filter by Exchange: This allows you to filter the Time and Sales Window by a specific exchange.
Filter by Price: This allows you to filter the Time and Sales Window by a specific price.
Font
This option will allow you to change the Font Style and Size of the Text in the Time and Sales Window.
Colors
This option will allow you to change the Colors inside the Time and Sales Window.
Grid
This options allow you to turn the Grid Lines On/Off
This option when selected with Auto Size the Time and Sales Window so that all the columns fit evenly into the window.
This feature will allow you to go to a specific Date/Time going back up to 10 days.
Export
There are two options you can export. the first option is Data, this will allow you to export the data out of the Time and Sales Window and save it as three file types .prn, .csv and .txt. The second option is Image, which will allow you to save a screenshot of the Time and Sales Window.
This option will allow you to save a Time and Sales Window in terms of Color, Font, and feature settings so that this Layout can be applied to new Time and Sales Windows.
