eSignal 12 - Location of eSignal Files Using the Windows 7 Operating System
To make eSignal 12 Windows 7 compliant, the location of its program files, Dlls and user files have changed from the eSignal directory to new directories: Program Files/Interactive Data, Common Files, My Documents AppData\Local, AppData\Roaming, and ProgramData. Application preferences are now stored in the Windows Registry instead of the *.ini files
Program Files and DLL Files
The default directory directory for the program files and DLL files to run eSignal is C:\Program Files\Interactive Data\eSignal. The application file to run the program is eSignal.exe.
Other eSignal related programs such as QLink and the Tradestation Plugin are now also located in the C:\Program Files\Interactive Data directory.
data manager and trading plugins
the data manager and trading plugins are now located in the common files directory c:\program files\common files\interactive data folder:
the data manager (winros.exe) and associated files have been moved to the common files directory c:\program files\common files\interactive data\dm.
the winros.ini file remains in the c:\windows directory.
trading plugin files are also located in the common files directory: c:\program files\common files\interactive data\trading plugins.
user files
pages and efs related files are now located in the my documents directory, which can be accessed by clicking the start button, highlighting documents, my documents, and then interactive data.
pages
pages now have the .page file extension and are located in the c:\users\[username]\my documents\interactive data\esignal\pages folder.
time, style, drawing templates and hot keys
the style templates folder, drawing templates folder, hot keys folder, timetemplates.xml file are located in the
c:\users\[username]\appdata\roaming\interactive data\esignal folder:
The EFS Formulas, FunctionLibrary, and FormulaOutput Folders
These folders are located in the C:\Users\[username]\My Documents\Interactive Data directory.
efs files should be stored in C:\User\[username]\My Documents\Interactive Data\Formulas\My Formulas
Alerts
Alerts are contained in the Alerts.xml file which is located in the C:\Program Files\Interactive Data\eSignal directory.
Tab files, Sound files, Trading Configuration, Page Backup files, and Time Templates
Tab files such as Specs.tab and aliases.xml are now located in two locations (1) C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Interactive Data\DM\SigText and (2) C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Interactive Data\eSignal\SigText
Please note aliases.xml contains entries related to the composite symbol manager.
Sound Files
.Wav files for sound effects are located in the C:\Users\[username]\My Documents\Interactive Data\Sounds folder.
Trading Configuration
The configuration.xml file for trading functions is located in the C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Interactive Data\eSignal\Trading folder.
Installation Log Files
Whenever eSignal 12 is installed, it creates a .log file which can be analyzed by the program developers to diagnose installation problems. These files are located in a subdirectory of C:\ProgramData\Interactive Data\eSignal\Installations. Each installation creates its own Logs folder in the Installations folder where the esignal*.log file is located.
Backup Pages
Whenever you install a new version of eSignal 12, your pages are automatically backed up in case you need to revert back to the previous version. These backup pages are located in the C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Interactive Data\eSignal\Backup\Pages Folder.
